Inauguration of SGAT Mineral Museum
The Mineral Museum of the Society of Geoscientists and Allied Technologists was inaugurated by Shri Prafulla Kumar Mallick, Hon’ble Minister, Steel & Mines and Works at SGAT building located at ND-12, V.I.P. Area, Bhubaneswar-751015 at 5.00 p.m. on 22 June 2019. After inaugurating the Mineral Museum, Hon’ble Minister went around the mineral gallery and showed keen interest on the different representative rock, mineral and ore samples of the state as well as outside the state of Odisha. Shri Guru Charan Das, Former Regional Director (Exploration), Eastern Region, Geological Survey of India, Kolkata and present Executive Council Member of SGAT explained the importance and utility of various minerals to the Hon’ble Minister. In the meeting that followed the inauguration ceremony, Hon’ble Minister remarked that he is well aware of the activities of SGAT and the newly inaugurated museum will help the researchers and students prosecuting Post-Graduate study in Earth Sciences. Hon’ble Minister requested the scientists of SGAT to offer views to the State Govt. in the field of Mineral Development and value addition and assured that such views will be considered by his ministry and the Govt. for collective mineral development of the State. The occasion was attended by dignitaries from Central and State Govt., Industry and Mining apart from the members of SGAT. The meeting ended with vote of thanks by Alok Bihari Panigrahi, General Secretary, SGAT.
